Whisky Sessions – wee drams and a huge hit

28 November 2014

MORE than 6,000 folk attended the inaugural Whisky Sessions in Manchester – an intoxicating blend of spirit and music (200 whiskies from around the world, 34 artists).

Promoter Anthony Warren said of the two-day (21-22 Nov) event at the  Victoria Warehouse: We were blown away by Manchester's response. The first year of the event is always a challenge but I think the images from the weekend speak for themselves  – a great venue, ecstatic fans, amazing music and tremendous whiskies.  We definitely chose the right city to make our debut!”

Artists including I Am Kloot, Gomez, British Sea Power, Tim Burgess, Badly Drawn Boy, Turin Brakes and Little Comets played live in the two main rooms of the Warehouse, as well as a whisky festival at the Victoria Warehouse Hotel, transformed, for the weekend into The Whisky Hotel.

A host of whisky producers introduced thousands of festival-goers to whiskies from around the world they had nevertpreviously tried, as well as presenting tutored tastings and masterclasses. Big hits of the weekend included whiskies from Paul John, Auchentoshan and Compass Box. Other treats included Buffalo Trace Bourbon Burgers, Whisky & Honey glazed ham and mushroom wood-fired pizzas, and a real ale bar selling “Kloot Ale”, which proved a big hit.
