Thomas Restaurant has got a new bistro menu which the Taste team are pretty much in love with. Itâs fresh and tasty, basically the kind of food you will want to eat this summer.
And thereâs more good news too. April marks the central restaurant and barâs second birthday and theyâre offering Taste readers the chance to win a two âcourse lunch or early evening meal (noon â 7pm), for two, plus a bottle of house red or white wine on the side.
Drawing on the principles of classic French cuisine, the summer menu uses careful timings to achieve maximum flavour. Subtlety and refinement take priority over bombast. The delicate roast chicken in a puy lentil and fennel broth, for example, is a case in point.
The allure of the new menu may lie in careful consideration but thatâs not to say thereâs a lack of ambition. Pan-fried chicken livers with Tabasco and Worcester sauce on toast, or lobster bisque are nothing but punchy; while desserts offer a volley of sweet sensations. Choose from chocolate and fresh strawberry éclairs or very sticky toffee and date pudding with fresh vanilla ice cream.
Thomas has just launched âafter workâ which runs from 4pm-7pm Monday to Friday as well. This includes deals with offers on house wine (£2.50), selected cocktails (£5), bottled beers (£2.50) and bar treats & mini pizzas (choose any two for £7.)
Theyâve also got a private Club Room upstairs with itâs own bar available for personal and corporate hire.
