Wine, beer and ROB – Bangers & Bacon's trio of meaty treats

THOSE mighty meat purveyors at Bangers and Bacon have lined up a trio of special events at their Kitchens Leftbank base. Non-carnivores aren’t excluded but they might not get bang for their buck at the first one up!

First up at on Tuesday, May 25 is Red and Rare. It is themed around the new red wine son their list, matched by seven deliciously meat-driven courses. The menu is subject to change according to availability but expect the likes of beef Roll, in lardo, spiced and salted; sirloin tartar; ox cheek ravioli with soy and ginger; asparagus with marrowbone ‘salad’, Jacobs Ladder cooked in Runway smoked porter, oxtail and beetroot pearl barley risotto; the ULTIMATE chocolate profiterole. On Wednesday, June 15 B&B’s contribution to Manchester Beer Week is a menu of five courses, each paired with a beer from some of Manchester’s finest. Signed up so far are Runaway, Shindigger, Stubborn Mule and Torrside Brewing. Each course will be prefaced by the brewer talking you through their origins and explain their brewing styles. Served down long tables, this promises to be a sociable occasion. Five generous samples of beer are included but there’s also a fully stocked bar spilling with wine, spirits, beers and soft drinks. A week later, Wednesday June 22, it’s Beastro Rob Owen Brown, where the much-travelled chef has created a bespoke, seasonal menu in tandem with B&B’s James Taylor and chef Richard Brown (pictured at Well Hung, their other Kitchens enterprise). A sneak preview has TOM salivating already. They’ll be serving up mint smoked lamb loin carpaccio, artichoke and micro herbs; pig’s cheek and blowtorched scallop, apple and yuzu; quail in lavender and local honey, with fondant potato and garden peas; passionfruit panna cotta with papaya and green tea tuile; local cheese and homemade oat crackers. £30.
