IT may well be the crossover event of the year when craft beer meets home-grown grapple. As part of Manchester Beer Week Failsworth-based wrestling promoters Futureshock are joining forces with street food organisers GRUB to host Futureshock Untapped! at the Fairfield Social Club.
Three hours of wrestling is thirsty work so protagonists and public alike may well get to grips with guest beers from an appropriate source. Liverpool microbrewery Top Rope Brewing, whose motto is “putting hops in a headlock”.
Co-owners Ben and Neil (below) founded it after discovering a mutual love of home brewing and late Nineties pro wrestling.
For the less informed throwing yourself willingly to the mat from the top rope is described as "high risk offence", the ultimate risk vs reward, putting your body on the line in order to achieve your goals.
Their bar takeover will be matched by an array of street food traders synonymous with GRUB events. All this plus the stars of WWE's UK Division and ITV's WoS Wrestling as well as the hottest rising stars of the ring.
Futureshock Tapped! July 8 5pm-8pm. Fairfield Social Club, Archway 6 Temperance St, Manchester, M12 6HR. Tickets from £13.45 general admission. Buy them here.
