Has the Northern Quarter lost it’s cool? Walk through Stevenson Square on an average Saturday and you might seem to think this famously hip part of town has started to see it’s edge fade. The institutions we know and love remain but the grit seems to be wiped clean. One bar however, has dared to encapsulate an NQ of old. An NQ that filled with character and an NQ we remember fondly.

The Bar in question is of course The Daisy. Found in the Basement under Evelyns, this subterranean Parisian style bar feels like a hidden gem. Draped in sleek décor and chequered tiling that nods to its French styling while exuberating an understated cool that *almost* makes you wish you could still smoke indoors.
Much like any superhero worth their salt, The Daisy has two Personalities. By day, it acts as a coworking space built for the professional wanting a classy yet relaxed experience. By night, it transforms into a moody and refined lounge serving a cocktail menu full of elegance and Parisian nuance. All the while the world outside passes by, none the wiser that one of our great city’s subtle little treats is meters below their feet. I think that’s why The Daisy still feels so effortlessly cool, because it’s so easy to miss. It’s a real gem hidden in plain sight.

The cocktails are unsurprisingly a highlight at The Daisy but in particular we’d recommend the Bellini and the Orchard Gimlet. The Bellini was a classic with a certain je ne sais quoi while the Orchard Gimlet was a refreshing and tart affair that certainly gave you a feel of the forties.
The Daisy takes two sides of the Northern Quarter’s personality and effortlessly combines them to remind us why we fell in love with it in the first place.
