Arguably, Manchester's Spanish restaurants seem to have been hit by the current pandemic more than most types of venue. In 2020/21 we've seen many of our favourite places close such as Lunya, the wonderful Catalan restaurant and deli in Barton Arcade close, as well as Ibérica in Spinningfields and Tapeo and Wine.
There are still some top tapas places around though, thank goodness. From the Catalan restaurant Tast Catala and near neighbour El Gato Negro on King Street, to veterans such as Evuna on Deansgate and in the NQ and La Bandera who specialise in the cuisine of The Canary Islands. The suburb and towns have their own Spanish outposts, too – check out Porta in Salford (only a short walk from Manchester city centre), Bar San Juan in Chorlton and Ramsbottom's award-winning duo, Levanter and Baratxuri which serves typical basque pintxos in one half of the restaurant and larger wood-fired specialities from the adjacent comedor.
