Al Faisal’s green and white fronted curry caff had been the cornerstone of the Northern Quarter’s curry scene since 1990. Owner Tariq Malik opened the business when he was 28 but was forced to move in 2018 as the building and the whole block was being demolished by developers.
The good news was that the restaurant simply relocated to larger premises just across the road, next door to Yagdar, another well-known curry caff. This new place has room for 40 diners with the same selection of great value canteen-style ‘rice and three’ curries, marinated and grilled meat kebabs and fluffy giant naan breads. Arguably, Al Faisal serves better vegetable curries than its competitors.
