Annies is based in the same building as the Royal Exchange Theatre, in the beating heart of Manchesters shopping district. Co-owned by Jennie McAlpine, who play Fizz in Coronation Street, it's something of a new favourite. Choose from afternoon tea (£14.95), Champagne tea (£19.95) and cream tea (£5.75). The main event includes finger sandwiches, freshly-baked raisin scones served with jam and clotted cream, homemade cakes and pastries and freshly brewed tea or coffee. Add a glass of bubbly or go for the traditional cream tea with a fruit scone, jam and clotted cream. All wood tones inside, it feels like a true respite from the crowds.
