Pokusevskis opened as a deli in Heaton Moor in 2005 and has since evolved into an all-day venue with a pleasant courtyard for al fresco dining. In 2013 Moises Catena joined as Director and Executive Chef bringing an authentic, flavour of his native Southern Spain to the menu.
The breakfast menu ranges from a simple bacon sandwich to the heartier shakshuka – or you can even start your day with some churros. Lunch spans soups, bountiful sandwiches, a selection of salads or sharing platters. The dinner menu represents the staff’s Spanish, Jewish, Eastern European and English heritage in the form of great tasting, home cooked food served in relaxed and informal surroundings.
Starters and small plates include saffron and chilli chicken wings or various homemade dips and flatbread. For mains, expect dishes like Greek spinach and feta pie, lamb and sour cherry meatballs with toasted almond couscous, or even a proper burger with triple cooked chips and salad. Pokusevskis use local, organic suppliers wherever possible.
You’ll also find a reasonably priced and accessible wine list, a modest selection of classic cocktails, beer and soft drinks. Cakes, brownies and tray bakes are also a speciality.
