The Lowry brings to mind a glittering cruise ship sailing down the winding River Irwell. Sit out on the deck overlooking the river for an al fresco cocktail or, when the weather turns chilly, cosy up in the luxurious, light-filled  cabin-like River Bar. TOM would recommend a classic Collins, served with a cucumber-based twist to provide a hit closer to home or a Ten Thymes mingling gin, honey and oodles of the aromatic herb. Martinis are among the best in town, too.
