Constructed in 1861, Stockport Market Hall was originally open-sided so became known as the glass umbrella. It’s a vibrant general market with lots of food an drink traders, notably Corin Bland’s cornucopia of fine bottled ales, the High Peak Beer Company. He also runs the Bottle Stockport bar in Heaton Moor (see Top 10 The Heatons). But it is the last Friday of every month, between 6pm and 9pm, that the Market Place really comes alive for Foodie Friday, winner of Best Food and Drink Pop Up Event, Club or Project in the 2016 Manchester Food and Drink Awards.
