Cheese is off – poutine and parmo at Plant Powered Sundays

17 May 2018 by Neil Sowerby

SO you really got into National Vegetarian Week? Why not then go the whole hog – unfortunate choice of metaphor – and go vegan? Can’t give up the dairy may be a sticking point, but the ever innovative Plant Powered Sundays have the answer this Sunday (20th).

GRUB’s weekly veganfest, back in its summer base at the Mayfield Depot, is offering plant-based versions of poutine and parmo. We’re not sure how – probably based on nut ‘‘cheeses’.

These come respectively from Parm Star and Gravy Train, whose reputations have been built on the original dairy-led versions. The other two guest traders this week are Wrapture, serving spicy wraps with home-made sauces and pickles plus Lebanese fries, and –celebrating National Doughnut Week – Yes Donuts.

GRUB Plant Powered Sundays, Mayfield Depot, Baring Street, Manchester M1 2AD. 12pm-6pm. Free.
