ALDERLEY Edge is looking up. The arrival of the eccentric Tomfoolery has shaken up an homogenised bar scene with the only recent bright spot Mughli/David Gale Indian street/food gin bar, the Railway Cafe.
Now comes news that a Chinese restaurant once hailed the “best in the UK” by Gordon Ramsay is to open a new venue on London Road. Victor and Vinny Yu, owners of the award-winning Yu and You in the Ribble Valley are to open their second site at the former Panacea venue in the autumn.
They have today revealed images of how the interiors will look - and it’s set to be rather stylish with dark woods and blue lighting and fixtures created by acclaimed designer Bernard Carroll.
The Yu family will be taking over the first floor of the former Panacea nightspot, which closed for good in 2013 after a fire. The ground floor is to become a Piccolino, a brand better known in these parts.
Victor Yu, head chef, said: “We’ve been looking to expand the business and open a second site for a while now, but we wanted to find the right location first. Both Vinny and I think Alderley Edge is a fantastic place that will complement the restaurant’s sophisticated style and food offering.”
