Feel the Pintx as TNQ turns Basque for an evening of small plates

PINTXOS, delectable Basque cousins of tapas, are much in vogue the moment. Check out our latest review of Baratxuri in Ramsbottom (OK, were were investigating larger racions and  their new roasting oven but the small plates there are second to none).

Meanwhile, Leeds based Pintura Basque Kitchen and Bar, who seem to exist without the obligatory Xs, have confirmed they will open in Manchester Hall on Bridge Street early next March. They will replace Garage Bar in the landmark Grade II listed building, formerly the Freemason’s Hall

If you can’t hold out till then in the city centre get along to a a one-night only pintxos experience at TNQ Restaurant and Bar on High Street in the Northern Quarter. Their Pintxos Party takes place on Thursday, July 26 from 8pm and costs £60 a head.

The 15-dish small plate menu ranges from a gazpacho hooter with basil granita, padron peppers and roast figs, goats’ cheese and truffle to calves’ liver, burnt shallot and orange aand beef short rubs, moscatel and piperade, the parade of dishes closing with Basque style burnt cheesecake, Pedro Ximenez and orange.

Five matching wines come courtesy of Casa Rojo. They will be introduced on the night by Alejandro from the award-winning Jumilla winery.

TNQ, 108 High St, Manchester M4 1HQ. To book for the event ring 0161 832 7115.
