GRILLSTOCK make its Manchester bow on Saturday and Sunday, June 8-9, offering a festival in Albert Square to set muso carnivores everywhere salivating.

More than 20 barbecue teams from around the UK will set up stalls to compete to be the “King of the Q” competition, including local contenders Almost Famous and Fire and Salt. Plus there’ll be top tips and recipes in the BBQ Academy. Expect a pall of charcoal smoke to cloak the Town Hall.

The festival, which originated in Bristol, will also host an American roots-inspired line-up including Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, The Travelling Band, Riot Jazz and John J Presley.

Brooklyn Brewery provide the refreshment across two sizzling days of hot wing, rib and chilli eating contests.
