Liverpool’s Bold Street Coffee opens on Manchester’s Cross Street

9 December 2021 by Deanna Thomas

Bold Street Coffee, Liverpool’s award-winning coffee shop, opened its doors on Cross Street this week. Now Mancunians can enjoy their speciality coffees with a rotating selection of guest blends along with freshly made sandwiches, all day breakfast, lunch dishes and sweet treats.

With coffee that’s roasted in house, Bold Street Coffee will attract avid coffee connoisseurs who can enjoy a drinks menu of carefully blended flat whites, mocha, espresso, cortado, cappuccino, latte, americano, short and long black, piccolo and batch brews. If you’re looking for a coffee alternative, they also serve a selection of teas and iced drinks. BSC Cross Street is both family and dog friendly with Babaccino and Puppaccinos available too.

Open from 8am Mon-Sat (and 9am on Sundays) visitors can look forward to an entire breakfast, brunch and lunch menu.

Filled toasted brioche buns known as Buoys are a BSC signature breakfast staple and fillings include scrambled egg with melted cheese, sausage patty and bacon. Have it veggie with hash brown, fried egg, avocado, mushroom, cheese and onion jam, or there’s a Vegan Buoy with aubergine patty, scrambled tofu, hash brown, vegan cheese, spinach and onion jam.

Guests will also find Egg Boxes with granary toast, scrambled egg, melted cheese, avocado, tomato with a choice of bacon and sausage. There's also a veggie egg box and a No Carb Box with scrambled egg, melted cheese, bacon, mushroom, tomato, avocado and rocket.

There’s a classic BSC Fry and Veggie Fry, as well as Butties including bacon, sausage, the chicken katsu club, egg mayo, tuna mayo and chickpea and avocado for great Grab & Go options. Bowls include yogurt with granola, berry compote and honey, porridge and super porridge.

BSC Cross Street has its own range of BSC House coffee beans for fans to purchase as well as home coffee brewing equipment.

Bold Street Coffee prides itself on using its space to support local artists, championing their work and showcasing it as a gallery throughout the space. To mark the opening of BSC’s first Manchester site, local artist The Manc Wanderer - aka Nathan Whittaker - will be the first to exhibit his work with five exclusive pieces.

Nathan, who lives in the city centre, has amassed over 26,000 followers on Instagram where he celebrates Manchester in all its glory including the less picturesque and everyday parts of the city. Throughout lockdown, Nathan wanted to document the eeriness of the usually bustling area.

"I'm so grateful to BSC Cross Street for giving me the opportunity to display my work in what will be my first exhibition of Manchester photos,” says Nathan. “Having sold my prints for over a year in Afflecks at the wonderful Be Your Gallery, it's great that we can collaborate with this display of images showing off my favourite parts of the city in a space that's just about to open - it feels even more exciting that it's a new thing for all involved.”

Matt Farrell, Director of Bold Street Coffee, added: “It’s a very exciting time to be opening our second BSC site - this time in Manchester. Our Liverpool venue has created a wonderful community of people and we very much look forward to welcoming all of our guests to our Manchester site and meeting some new faces. BSC’s core focus will always be producing stand out coffee using our house and guest blends, as well as producing tasty food that can be enjoyed in the venue or when guests grab & go.

“We’ve always wanted to use our space to support local artists and showcase their talent. Our Liverpool-based exhibitions have always been well received and it gives the artists a platform to sell their work, meet other like-minded individuals and engage with anyone who is curious and wants to know more about their pieces. We’re really excited to welcome Nathan and his pieces to BSC on Cross Street as the first artist to exhibit there.”
