Manchester Veg People’s Common Bar Showcase

4 June 2013

ORGANIC growers’ co-operative Manchester Veg People are launching their Let’s Get The Greater Manchester Food Revolution Moving campaign on Saturday, June 8 – by moving food!

They are cycling a trailer full of freshly picked veg from one of our growers, Glebelands city farm in Sale, to the Northern Quarter’s Common Bar where the bar’s kitchen team will transform in into the day’s specials. No menu yet – the choice will depend on what’s freshest for picking on the day.

The fund-raising veg cavalcade will meander across Manchester via the John Rylands Library Cafe at 11am and arrive at Common in Edge Street for 12pm.

Manchester Veg People are a co-operative of local organic growers and buyers, who are growing sustainable veg, distributing it and serving it up in Greater Manchester pubs, restaurants and canteens, including high profile customers such as Common, Aumbry, The Parlour, The Beagle and Chorlton Green Brasserie.

They set up 18 months ago using shared vans, storage and office space, but now need to raise funds for their own van and cold store.
