New seasonal bistro, Another Hand, announces its Great Northern opening date

28 February 2022 by Deanna Thomas

Another Hand, a new bistro from the team behind 3 Hands Deli at Deansgate Mews in the The Great Northern Warehouse, is to open early March.

The new seasonal restaurant is the result of a collaboration between Julian Pizer, former Executive Chef at Cottonopolis and Edinburgh Castle, and Danny Foggo from Holy Grain who are joining forces with Max Yorke, formerly of Edinburgh Castle and Hispi.

The intimate independent restaurant will serve brunch, lunch and dinner with a menu which celebrates the process of low-intervention and locally sourced produce. There will be room for only 24 covers in the restaurant which features burnt orange soft furnishings, exposed brick and teal tiles and paint finishes to create the perfect relaxed neighbourhood dining space.

Another Hand’s open kitchen will feature a Japanese grill, and the restaurant’s seasonally evolving evening menu will offer small plates for sharing with friends. More adventurous guests can sit at the counter to enjoy an immersive blind tasting menu.

Fresh vegetables and fermented foods will take a starring role, in addition to sustainability sourced fish and meat which will all be supplied daily by local businesses including Cinderwood Market Garden, Organic North, Littlewoods Butcher and Butcher’s Quarter. The drinks menu will offer natural wine, craft beer, seasonal cocktails and coffee sourced from other local, independent businesses

“Dishes will be served as natural as possible,” says Julian Pizer. “We’ve sought out the best possible producers and high-quality suppliers to minimise waste within the kitchen and ensure our dishes are sustainable, organic and tasty.

“The vegetables used within our dishes are based on what’s being picked out the ground that day, and we’re combining this with the likes of sustainably line caught fish, organic meats and fermented foods. Our menu is constantly changing. As different ingredients run their course, we evolve into a new dish, so guests will be able to try a variety of different tastes each time they visit.”

A weekly changing brunch menu will offer a European style of bistro brunching from 8:30am – 3pm every day with toasted sandwiches from 3 Hands Deli which will be available to eat in or takeaway at Another Hand from 10am – 3pm daily.

Julian Pizer added: “Whilst our menu is primarily vegetarian focused, Another Hand, promises a dining experience for everyone. We want to showcase the beauty of locally foraged plant-based ingredients and appeal to vegetarian and non-vegetarian eaters alike.

“We’re hoping to take our guests on a culinary journey each time they visit, whether it’s brunch, lunch or dinner and showcase the best of British ingredients.”

Another Hand will join the raft of talented independent businesses currently operating from The Mews, a hidden retail street within Great Northern Warehouse on Deansgate. These include Alex’s Bakery, Almost Famous, Ascend, Cibo, Dormouse Chocolates, Evuna, Futon Company, Platzki, Siam Noodle Bar, The Butcher’s Quarter, Whistles Punks and Mews Bar and Charcuterie.

Mark Schofield, Centre Director of Great Northern said, “Another Hand brings a completely new dining experience to Great Northern Warehouse. “We’re really excited to see what the culinary trio has in store.”

Another Hand at Great Northern Warehouse will open from Thursday 3 March serving brunch only from 08:30 – 15:00 daily until Sunday 6 March. Bookings for evening tables from Thursday 10 March onwards can be booked HERE.
