UPMARKET Indian Saffron Room is hoping to transfer some of the glamour associated with its Prestbury restaurant, a Cheshire Set favourite, to its new city centre branch in the former Choice premises at Castle Quay.
On the evidence of a lunch picture gallery it certainly looks the part, a definite rival for Akbar’s on the other side of Castlefield. Whether its food can match current Asian food fave Mughli, which ironically has branched out from Rusholme into Cheshire at Knutsford and Alderley Edge, remains to be seen.
Certainly, the food will be rich and spicy and the wine list stellar if it mirrors the Prestbury original, where owner Sanam Ahmed sensitively transformed the iconic White House fine dining restaurant.
