Sale’s new Foodhall to open in time for Christmas

4 November 2021 by Deanna Thomas

The team behind Sale’s new Foodhall in Stanley Square have revealed it will open to the public on Thursday 18th November, ready for a busy Christmas in the town centre. Locals and visitors can expect a new retail offering with an exciting line-up of food traders and a great community space.

Much loved artisan pizza experts Basilico and proper tasty burger-slingers What’s Your Beef will be taking up residence permanently in the large and colourful unit with space for another rotating indie food vendor. The first temporary trader to join the foodhall family will be Eat Dutch, bringing their authentic mini Dutch pancakes to Sale throughout November and December.

Having already proved to be hugely popular in Stretford, the food hall concept is now being rolled out in the neighbouring Greater Manchester suburb. The new Sale Foodhall, designed by CDS Willman, award-winning design & build specialists for the hospitality sector, boasts a 150-cover dining and drinking space, plus an outdoor terrace. This has replaced the ‘Groceries and Beer’ unit which has been operated by the Store Group for the last two years. The brand has relocated around the corner from G&B, at Stanley Square Shopping Mall in a huge 5,500 sq ft unit to create a new food, drink and retail destination.

The new unit will also have a bar serving local craft beers, wine and spirits, a coffee shop with a bakery unit, plus General Store’s trademark ‘cornershop’ retail space. The venue will also provide a flexible space with a variety of uses for the local community, from pop-up retail areas, to informal classes and workshops.

Mital Morar, Founder of Store Retail Group said: “We’re looking forward to becoming an even bigger part of the community here in Sale. It’s been a brilliant home to us over the last two years and we can’t wait to open the doors to a much bigger space. This is a chance for us to evolve into that proper community hub that we always strive to create - from baby groups to beer tastings, everyone is welcome. Our local neighbourhood is everything, and at the centre of will always be quality independent food and drink as well as convenience.”

The grocery store within each venue will offer the same great innovative neighbourhood retail concept the brand has become famous for. As well as championing local makers from food and drink to homeware, the shop will be a destination for artisan alcohol as well as local fresh baked goods and zero-waste, household essential refill stations.

The new expanded venue in Sale has created ten new jobs in the town centre, in addition to the ten already employed at the existing store. The Store Group are asking that any talented and enthusiastic individuals interested in a new role get in touch via store-group.co.uk/careers

Sale Foodhall follows the launch of the Store Group’s two new General Store launches at Deansgate Square and in MediaCityUK earlier this year. There are plans in the pipeline for another new General Store at Kampus in Manchester city centre, plus a new Foodhall in Northwich has already been announced, with more exciting plans to come.
