The Alchemist, Spinningfield’s flagship venue, is to reopen at the end of March after as extensive refurbishment of its original venue. The transformation will mark the next phase in a new era for the brand’s concept.
The new-look interiors involve a cosmic inspired renovation of the all-day dining and cocktail space which will include the addition of two new private areas. The Alchemist’s signature theatrical approach also means there’ll be a brand-new food menu as well as a new cocktail and drinks offering which will launch in May.
The Alchemist in Spinningfields, was the first and flagship venue for the Manchester-born hospitality group, which now has creative cocktail bars and restaurants across the UK including London, Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Cheltenham, Oxford, Nottingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, and a second Manchester site on New York Street. The original Spinningfields bar opened in 2010 helping institute the area as a cosmopolitan social hub of bars and restaurants.
Its £550,000 refined refurbishment will be a significant evolution in design for The Alchemist, who are pushing their theme of ‘creative alchemy’, ‘potions’ and ‘molecular mixology’. The Alchemist Spinningfields will be the first of its venues to reveal the new style, featuring futuristic, divine influences from astrology and the cosmos.
“The Alchemist footprint has spread across the UK over the last few years, as we’ve taken our hospitality brand down to London and up to Scotland, but we’ve always remained a Manchester company, at heart,” says CEO Simon Potts, of the expansion plans.
“The Spinningfields venue is an institution and much loved by our teams and guests alike; we look forward to bringing our new design direction to the city in March. The refurbishment also marks a new phase of growth for the business as we put the recent challenges behind us and look forward to the renewed evolution and expansion of the brand.”
The Alchemist provides an all-day casual dining experience, complemented by an expertly crafted drinks menu and seating on the outdoor terrace. Earlier this year they celebrated their 10th anniversary by releasing their first cocktail recipe book in association with Ebury Press.
