Indulge Yourself this Autumn with Farmhouse Fare!

21 October 2008

Farmhouse Fare is a local producer that creates big products. Based in Clitheroe, Lancashire, they are an award winning pudding company with a handmade range of desserts which combine the traditional with a modern edge. They follow a seasonal pattern with their ranges and have just released their autumn selection, which by all accounts, looks and sounds fantastically good!

The new range includes:

Luxury Sticky Toffee Pudding
Luxury Sticky Chocolate Pudding
Luxury Triple Chocolate Truffle Bread and Butter Pudding
Luxury Hot Jaffa Cake Sponge

It is my duty as a food writer to sample all food that I comment on; form opinions, analysed the ingredients and pondered long and hard about quality. Below is the official TOM verdict on Farmhouse Fare’s autumn range….

The Luxury Sticky Toffee Pudding oozed with flavour and goo. A rich and sweet sauce combined with a delicate, light sponge is this excellent dessert. I tend to expect dates in a sticky toffee sponge, which this lacked, but that’s not to detract from the pudding, just an observation.
TOM rating: 7/10

The Luxury Sticky Chocolate Pudding carries many of the elements mentioned in the toffee pud. The moist sponge and the sauce again are defining features, but the chocolate seems to carry the pudding the extra distance. I returned to this the following morning when all the sauce had solidified, and seriously, I think it was almost better!
TOM rating: 7/10

The Luxury Triple Chocolate Truffle Bread and Butter Pudding is like nothing I have ever known! Layers of molten chocolate dribble over the edges, this is so moist that it borders on juicy. This, honestly, is one of the best puddings I’ve eaten, which for a packaged product is incredible.
TOM rating: 9/10

The Luxury Hot Jaffa Cake Sponge is my least favourite of the four. This was a little overly cakey for my liking, but the orange wasn’t too sickly which was my main concern prior.
TOM rating: 6/10
