Gallery – Take a look around BOX, Deansgate’s new sports bar

14 December 2021 by Deanna Thomas

In November 2021, BOX, a new 8000sqft sports bar, opened on Deansgate, just opposite John Ryland’s library and The Avenue, Spinningfields.

On the ground floor, visitors can enjoy live music, a game of shuffleboard and over twenty television screens showing a wide range of sports.

Music will be supplied by apres-ski style live bands, as well as DJs playing favourite floor-fillers, and ‘Bandeoke’ - where guests are free to take the mike and join the house band on stage every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The bar offers tank conditioned Budvar from the Czech Republic as well as a range of favourites from the UK’s best breweries including Track Brewing Co., North Brewing Co., SEVEN BRO7HERS and SALT.

Enjoy a range of signature and classic cocktails and you can even get sharing cocktails which contain quadruple measures in a huge stein. On the other end of the scale, you and your mates can also get in the shots which come in wacky flavours including Watermelon whammy, Toffee Thunder and Jammy Dodger.

The food menu offers easy going classics and sharers so you don’t have to take your eyes off the screen if you’re there to watch an important match or race. Graze on nachos or loaded fries, mozzarella sticks and popcorn chicken or get sticky with wings or ribs to share. Can’t decide? Order a Champions Platter and try a bit of pretty much everything.

BOX also make pizza – their exec chef went over to Naples to learn how to do it properly. Order a 12” (or an 18” XXL for sharing) topped with San Marzano tomatoes and fior di latte mozzarella with a host of other toppings, all cooked in 90 seconds at 400 degrees in their imported state of the art oven. If that’s not enough for you, there are burgers, wraps and subs, kebabs and even salads.

Upstairs, past the photo booth if you want to capture the moment, there’s a second-floor bar with tables and booths. There’s a giant separate screen to show the all important fixtures or for private hire, but each booth has their own premium HD TV so your group can watch whatever sport you want to watch all day long. BOX streams Sky, BT & Box Office events so whatever’s on from boxing, to Formula One and cricket (and pretty much everything in between) they’ll show it for you.

BOX is the fourth Manchester opening from Leeds based Arc Inspirations, who are also behind Banyan Corn Exchange, Banyan Spinningfields and near neighbour Manahatta. BOX already has four existing venues around Leeds and BOX Leeds City Centre won Best New Bar at the Publican Awards 2019. Arc Inspirations is planning to establish further sites in 2022 and beyond.
